Thank you to everyone who came out to support our Calgary debut! We were very fortunate to have such a hyped up and energetic crowd! I brought Nicholas Yee and Mingmei Xu to Calgary as Orbis to perform at Otafest 2018 which is also the Anime convention's 20th anniversary. Next stop, Animethon!
The 2nd Episode of The Edge - "Elsa vs Zuko" made by Alpacalypse Productions is coming out soon! It was such a pleasure scoring for this awesome action packed episode! Expect more great things from Alpacalypse Productions in the future!
To commemorate its release, I am making the soundtrack used for this episode available for stream and download. Hope you'll enjoy!
I spent my 420 putting together this arrangement of the new God of War game, which is not just a masterpiece for the series but for video games and narrative media in general. I loved Bear McCreary's creation for the new entry in the series, the music really added so much emotion and power to the game that is just too intoxicating to not try and involve myself with. Once again, thanks to PJ Tan for sponsoring this video!
This was a favourite of mine ever since I heard it a few months back and continued to hear during my trip with Kat to Japan. We decided to incorporate some footage we took on the trip in this video as well.

Just wrapped up a show for University of Alberta doners at the McTaggart home. Playing with Anthony Kha and Mitchel Rees.
Initially a composition made for a client, "Ignition" is my first composition made with mainly electronic instruments. The song was inspired by my interest in cars and driving. I wanted to make a song that fits in the moment of those fun weekend cruises, drives past winding mountain paths, and the feel of the engine rev.
I promised that this would be out before I left for a 2 week trip to Japan, and now after 2 weeks of writing, going back and forth grabbing instruments (thank you PJ Tan & Son Violin Shop), and writing, it's finally complete! The music is just too epic to not cover!
Destiny 2 in itself is a fun and fantastic game (brilliantly polished and optimized as well), but the soundtrack caught me completely off guard. I was so inspired by it soundtrack that I felt like I had to get involved in it. So I came up with this orchestral arrangement/re-orchestration for some of my most favourite Destiny 2 soundtracks. I hope you'll enjoy!

This weekend marked a special occasion for me, as it was the first time I sat up on a panel at the Edmonton Expo Convention, as well as the first time I did a panel with a film production company. Alpacalypse Productions commissioned me to compose music for their short film "Elsa vs Zuko" starring Skylar Radzion and Daniel Fong as a part of their video series "The Edge". As such, I was asked to join their panel at Edmonton Expo to talk about my part in the short film. It was an amazing experience and it was so great to meet their fans!
The rest of the convention was great as well, but there definitely was an overtone of Star Wars throughout the entire convention.
Veronica approached me to do the instrumental for Heartache by One OK Rock. As a fan of the band as well as her voice, I happily obliged. As an acoustic version, I tried to drive the sound and build it a little more without giving too much emphasis to the pulse of the song to give it a more intimate and sentimental feeling. Veronica of course exceeded my expectations and did such a great job at adding more emotion into the song.

Last weekend was a day filled with fun and excitement at the 23rd Animethon convention in Edmonton, AB Canada. From Thursday to Sunday, I attended the convention with the awesome staffs, media, and industry personnel.
Saturday was the Take The Stage talent show preliminaries that I was judging in and Sunday was the big day where Orbis Orchestra returned to Animethon to perform backed by popular demand.
The Orbis concert was met with the same amount of excitement and hype that you would expect from the amazing attendees of Animethon. It was surreal to enter as an orchestra and have people cheering and screaming throughout the show and to be treated almost like rock stars. We featured our last year's awesome guests Vicky and Rochelle to sing with us, and the addition of having cosplayers on stage and being able to take a group photo with a number of our lovely audience, made this concert certainly one to remember.
After the orchestra concert was a tight panel schedule half an hour later which was judging the Take The Stage Talent Show finals. All the contestants this year gave a strong effort in performance full of surprises, energy. Congrats to all the contestants as well as the winners! Hope to see everyone next year!

One thing you guys may not know about me is that I really enjoy gaming. Now that music for me has moved from a hobby to a profession, one of my favourite hobby and past times became video games. This is a merge of both my music and video game interest, a medley of music from the triple A video game series God of War by Sony Santa Monica and composed by Gerard Marino with me playing...everything
The Edmonton Concept Pop Orchestra (temporary name) has made its debut performance (as well as my debut performance in conducting) at Animethon, Edmonton's annual anime convention. The performance was absolutely breathtaking, we had a turnout of hundreds of the most loud, hyped, excited, and passionate audience the members of the orchestra, including myself has had the pleasure of performing for. Thank you Animethon for having us!
This orchestra has been a dream of mine to put together, though I never found the right reason to start it, so when Vicky Lau from Animethon proposed the idea to me, I immediately took it up. It took us 4 months in total to put together our members and rehearse. All the music was arranged and orchestrated by our guitarist Geoff Li and myself from scratch. Our sets included video game and anime music such as Pokemon, Final Fantasy, Cowboy Bebop, Legend of Zelda, Sailor Moon, RWBY, and none other than the extraordinary work of Joe Hisaishi from the Studio Ghibli movies. Our orchestra members worked extremely hard for this show, and we all agreed all the hard work has certainly paid off. Stay tuned for more news from the orchestra!
PS. Video of the concert will be coming soon!
